WEST CHESTER, PA — Molly Munro, age 45, of Horsham, Montgomery County was sentenced Friday in court to 6-12 months in Chester County Prison, plus two years of reporting probation, for stealing Subutex in early 2020 from Recovery Centers of America in Devon where she worked as a nurse.
According to Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan, Munro pled guilty in March 2022 to the acquisition of a controlled substance by misrepresentation, fraud, forgery, deception or subterfuge, and reckless endangerment of another person.
Information presented in court showed that on February 5, 2020, Easttown Township Police were notified of an internal investigation into missing drugs that RCA was conducting. Police learned that videos showed the defendant swapping Subutex pills for Tylenol and Paxil, which were then given to RCA patients. Investigators discovered that the defendant replaced the Subutex over one to two weeks to ensure a correct pill count. She was fired from RCA on February 6th.
“Molly Munro’s only concern was for herself, not those she’d taken an oath to care for and protect. Her selfish and criminal actions endangered her patients’ lives and jeopardized their recoveries from substance abuse disorder. This breach of trust of Recovery Centers of America and their clients deserves punishment and justice,” said Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan.
Assistant District Attorney Alyssa Amoroso prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
The Easttown Township Police Department is credited for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Munro.
