WILMINGTON, DE — The New Castle County Division of Police is appealing to the public for assistance in identifying a suspect allegedly involved in a string of vandalism incidents that targeted vehicles in the Richardson Park neighborhood earlier this week.
On Tuesday, July 2, 2025, at approximately 5:05 p.m., officers responded to reports of an individual pouring an unknown substance on cars parked along Belmont Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered additional vehicles similarly damaged on nearby Lorewood Avenue and Mary Street.
According to investigators, the substance used was later determined to be motor oil, deliberately poured over the vehicles’ exteriors. Surveillance footage obtained during the investigation depicts the suspect — described as a Black female wearing a pink top, black shorts, and slide sandals — walking along the roadway carrying a container and pouring motor oil onto several parked cars.
The incidents have caused frustration and concern among local residents, as authorities work to identify the individual responsible and prevent further acts of vandalism in the area.
The New Castle County Division of Police urges anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information related to this investigation to contact Officer Seitelman at Mckenna.Seitelman@newcastlede.gov or by calling the non-emergency line at (302) 573-2800.
Community members can also provide tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling (800) TIP-3333.
