WEST CHESTER, PA — A Chester County jury this week found 61-year-old Thomas Miles, of Malvern, guilty of indecent assault after he groped a patient’s breasts on two occasions in 2017, announced Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan. The defendant, who was a chiropractor and massage therapist, will be sentenced later.

According to the evidence presented at trial, in April 2018, East Whiteland Police received a report of indecent assault made by a 43-year-old victim. The victim, who had been the defendant’s patient for several years, told investigators that he touched her breasts under a sheet during a massage therapy session in June 2017. The victim said the defendant told her the massage was “a little more exotic.” When she returned for another massage in July, the victim told investigators that the defendant removed the sheet and touched her breasts again.

“Thomas Miles violated his duty of care as a chiropractor and massage therapist by engaging in these reprehensible acts,” said Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan. “The victim had the courage to come forward to ensure that he never did this to others. It is not uncommon for victims of sexual assault to delay in reporting or to freeze during an assault. Her bravery is what brought the defendant to justice.”

East Whiteland Township Police conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Miles. DDA Kate Wright and ADA Madeline Troutman prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
