iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch Theft Leads to Prison Sentence

WEST CHESTER, PA — Corey Lewis, 32, of New Castle, Delaware pled guilty this week to burglary and conspiracy for stealing more than $10,000 worth of iPhones, iPads, and Apple watches from Target on Sunrise Blvd. in West Whiteland Township in September 2021, announced the Chester County First Assistant District Attorney Mike Barry. Judge Patrick Carmody then sentenced him to 3-6 years in prison.

In connection with the guilty pleas, the court was advised that West Whiteland Police were alerted to the burglary on September 9, 2021, and found the main doors’ glass broken. Police found an Apple display case in the electronics department was broken, and $10,148 worth of iPhones, iPads, and Apple watches were removed. Investigators located a window punch tool and blood near the broken display case.

During the investigation, it was learned that this was the ninth Target Store on the East Coast that had been similarly burglarized. The most recent one was in Warrington Township, Bucks County, on September 3, where Warrington Township Police also found DNA evidence.

“Thank you to the collaboration of law enforcement in Bucks County and Chester County to bring Corey Lewis to justice. It is shared efforts like this that keep our community safer,” stated Barry.

West Whiteland Township Police were credited with the successful investigation which led to this week’s plea. Assistant District Attorney Monica Szyszkiewicz was assigned prosecutor by the Chester County District Attorney’s Office.
