NEW CASTLE, DE — A tragic shooting on Thursday night in the Rose Hill Gardens neighborhood has left a 19-year-old New Castle man dead, prompting an active investigation by law enforcement.
At approximately 9:25 p.m. on June 5, 2025, officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the 100 block of Ryan Avenue for reports of gunfire. Upon arriving, they found Tahjir Pipkin, 19, suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body. Officers and Emergency Medical Services personnel immediately administered care before transporting Pipkin to Christiana Hospital. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Unit were swiftly called to the scene to begin their inquiry. Investigators noted that a gathering had been taking place in the parking lot of Rosehill Park at the time of the incident, with numerous attendees potentially serving as witnesses.
