Guatemalan ‘Refugee’ Arrested For Selling and Possessing $22k of Meth in Avondale

WEST CHESTER, PA — The Chester County District Attorney’s Office today announced the arrest of 28-year old Darinel Lucas-Gomez of Avondale for possession with intent to deliver $22,000 in methamphetamine, along with related offenses. The defendant is being held at Chester County Prison.

Authorities allege that the defendant sold methamphetamine on two occasions, an eighth of an ounce on March 29, 2021, and six and a half ounces on March 30, 2021. They also stated he had another 11 ounces in his possession when he was arrested on March 30, 2021, at his Avondale apartment. The drugs were valued at $22,000. Over $3,000 in cash was recovered, as well.

The defendant is a Guatemalan national who, when arrested, was wearing a Homeland Security Investigations ankle bracelet after recently crossing the border into the United States as a refugee.
