Fatal Shooting of 38-Year-Old Coatesville Man

COATESVILLE, PA — The Chester County District Attorney’s Office and City of Coatesville Police Department announced a joint investigation into a fatal shooting last night in Coatesville.

Authorities state that at approximately 9:07 pm, June 10, 2022, Coatesville Police responded to a report of gunshots at 5th Avenue and East Lincoln Hwy. At the scene, police found a 38-year-old male shot in the hip. The victim was immediately transported to Paoli Hospital, where he underwent surgery. He died shortly after.

Eyewitnesses reported that two black males in hoodies approached the victim and his cousin and engaged in a verbal dispute. One of the men showed a gun and told the victim, “I’m strapped.” The argument continued, and the male with the gun fired two shots. The two men then ran off.

Police recovered two fired shell casings and one fired projectile at the scene. Police are reviewing surveillance footage and canvassing the area.

Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan stated, “This is another senseless tragedy. If the public has any information about this incident, please contact the police immediately. Coatesville Police and Chester County Detectives are working around the clock to find these suspects and bring them to justice.”
