WEST CHESTER, PA — In the early hours of Saturday, September 2, 2023, escaped murderer Danelo Cavalcante, 34, was captured on a residential surveillance camera near Lenape Road, Pocopson Township, announced the Chester County District’s Attorney’s Office. The sighting occurred about 1.5 miles from the prison from which he escaped, and only an hour after an attempted burglary was reported in the same area.

Cavalcante, originally from Royersford, PA, was seen wearing pants, a light-colored t-shirt, and white sneakers. He had long, black curly hair and was carrying a backpack. His physical appearance matches previous descriptions: light-skinned, 5 feet tall, 120 lbs., with shaggy black hair and brown eyes.

A manhunt is currently underway, with hundreds of law enforcement officers from the U.S. Marshals, SWAT, local, state, and other federal agencies scouring the area. Cavalcante, a native of Brazil, was convicted on August 16, 2023, for first-degree murder following the fatal stabbing of his 33-year-old former girlfriend. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole just last week.

Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan issued a stern warning to residents: “Law enforcement is requesting that residents in the area remain indoors at this time. Lock your vehicles. Review your surveillance cameras and contact police if you observe anything suspicious.”

Ryan further emphasized Cavalcante’s dangerous nature, urging residents not to approach him under any circumstances but to call 911 immediately.

There is a $10,000 reward for anyone with information leading to Cavalcante’s capture. Anyone with any information on his whereabouts is urged to call 9-1-1 immediately. This is a developing story – stay with us for updates as they happen.
