Elverson Woman Scammed of Thousands by Hacker

ELVERSON, PA — A 70-year-old Elverson woman was scammed out of $2,200 by a hacker in a computer scam.

The Pennsylvania State Police say that, on March 29, 2022, Troopers from the Embreeville Station responded to Parkside Drive for a reported computer scam. The victim stated that a hacker locked her out of her computer until she paid them using gift cards, which included $1,000 from Apple, $1,000 from eBay, and $200 on a VISA gift card. This is an ongoing investigation.
