WEST CHESTER, PA — A resident of Downingtown, PA, has been sentenced to 10-20 years in prison for stabbing her mother multiple times with a knife at their shared residence in April 2020. The defendant pled guilty in July 2022 to attempted murder and possessing an instrument of crime.

Chester County Judge David Bortner imposed the sentence Friday, January 20, 2003, on 33-year-old Alexis Wilson.

According to information presented to the court, on April 12, 2020, Downingtown Police responded to the home in the 200-block of Highland Ave. for a report of a domestic disturbance. There they found the defendant holding a large silver knife and the victim lying face down in a pool of blood in the kitchen. Police also observed blood on the walls.

The victim suffered near-fatal wounds, including ten stab wounds to her back, seven to her upper shoulder and neck, and a slice mark on her cheek. She was taken to Paoli Memorial Hospital.

“The physical and emotional suffering the defendant inflicted on her mother still impacts the victim today,” stated Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan. “Nothing can erase the trauma the victim endured, but hopefully she will be able to move forward. Thank you to Downingtown Police for ensuring no one else was hurt and to first responders for their quick actions in saving the victim.”

Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan commended the Downingtown Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Alexis Wilson. Deputy District Attorney Michelle Frei prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
