PHILADELPHIA, PA —The Philadelphia Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with an alleged assault in Center City on Friday, May 9, 2025.
According to investigators, the incident occurred around 7:02 p.m. on the 300 block of South 12th Street. A 35-year-old woman was walking north on 12th Street when she was approached from behind by a male suspect. Authorities say the suspect grabbed the victim by the neck, shook her, and attempted to remove her glasses. The altercation escalated when the suspect allegedly punched the victim in the head.
The victim reportedly screamed and resisted, striking back at her attacker. The suspect then fled westbound on Spruce Street. The victim sustained injuries from the incident, but no further details about her condition have been released.
Suspect Description
The suspect is described as a white male, between 45 and 55 years old, of thin build with salt-and-pepper hair, a scruffy beard, and rimless glasses. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a blue and white button-down shirt and blue jeans.

The Central Detectives Division is leading the investigation, which remains active and ongoing. Police are urging anyone with information regarding the suspect or the incident to come forward.
