Chester Man Arrested for Strangulation in Southern Chester County

TOUGHKENAMON, PA — The Southern Chester County Regional Police Department announced the arrest of Jorge Mondragon-Alvarez, age 29 of Chester, on Strangulation, Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault, Criminal Mischief, Harassment and Disorderly Conduct charges following a call for a domestic disturbance.

Authorities state the incident occurred on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at 3:38 a.m., in the 100 block of Pine Street, in New Garden Township.  Upon arrival, police discovered significant bruising on the victim’s arms and knees.  The victim told police that during a verbal argument, Mondragon-Alvarez threw her to the floor, placing his knees on her chest and hands around her throat, causing her to struggle to breathe.  Mondragon-Alvarez then slapped her multiple times and punched her in the side of the head.  He punched walls in the residence and smashed the victim’s phone.

Mondragon-Alvarez was taken into custody. Police say he told the victim he would kill her upon his release from jail.

Mondragon-Alvarez was transported to the Chester County Prison for processing and arraignment.  He was committed after failing to post bail.  The case is pending a preliminary hearing.
