Berks County Man Arrested for Theft in West Chester

WEST CHESTER, PA — West Chester Police have arrested a man for Retail Theft and three additional charges.

Authorities state that on December 26, 2021, Officers were dispatched to a business in the 700 block of West Strasburg Road for a report of retail theft. Through their investigation, 40-year-old James Rothenberger of Reading, PA was identified as a suspect. A warrant was issued for Rothenberger’s arrest, and on Monday, January 10, 2022, Rothenberger turned himself into the West Chester Police Department.

Rothenberger has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Retail Theft (1 count)
  • Theft By Unlawful Taking (1 count)
  • Receiving Stolen Property
  • Conspiracy

He was processed and arraigned in front of Judge Lieberman at District Court 15-1-01. A preliminary hearing is scheduled at District Court 15-1-01.
