84-Year-Old Victim Fleeced Out of $7,000 in Tech Support Scam

LONDON BRITAN TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania State Police report that an 84-year-old female Chester County resident from London Britain Township fell victim to a Technical Support Scam.

Authorities state that on December 15, 2021, Troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police Avondale Barracks received a report of theft by deception. The victim stated that she sent approximately $7,000 worth of gift cards to the unidentified suspect. The victim believed she was sending the gift cards to a Microsoft employee who was going to fix her laptop. However, the unidentified suspect was not a Microsoft employee and did not fix her laptop. This case is still under investigation.
