12-Year-Old Arrested in Connection to Fire in Upper Oxford Township

UPPER OXFORD TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania State Police have arrested a 12-year-old juvenile for arson after an investigation.

Authorities state that on December 27, 2021, at 6:38 PM, Troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police Avondale Barracks responded to the 3200 block of Newark Road, Upper Oxford Township, Chester County to assist the local fire department at a house fire. While responding, the complainant advised Troopers that their 12-year-old son set the fire in the basement of the residence.

Through an investigation, Troopers found evidence linking the juvenile to the crime. The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale Barracks for fingerprinting and processing. He was subsequently remanded to The Chester County Juvenile Detention Center.

The Pennsylvania State Police was assisted by the Chester County District Attorney’s Office, Chester County Juvenile Probation, and the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshall Unit. Pennsylvania State Police Avondale Barracks handled the incident.
