Wilmington Teens Arrested on Firearms Charges

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police announced the arrest of two juveniles and recovered two firearms.

Authorities stated that on January 13 at approximately 8:40 p.m., members of Wilmington’s Street Crimes Unit were in the area of 5th and Madison Streets conducting an investigation when they attempted to make contact with several subjects, who attempted to leave the area upon seeing officers. Officers stopped a 15-year-old male and a 17-year-old male, and recovered two 9mm handguns.

The 15-year-old male has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $20,000 cash-only bail.

The 17-year-old male has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $20,000 cash-only bail.
