Wilmington Police Make Arrest in Connection With September Murder

WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington Police investigation has resulted in an arrest in connection with a September 2021 murder.

Authorities state that on September 25, 2021, at approximately 12:57 p.m., police responded to the 400 block of North Monroe Street in response to a shooting that had occurred.  The victim, identified as 29-year-old Tyaire Anderson, succumbed to his injuries.

The case was assigned to Detective Devon Jones of the Criminal Investigations Division.  Through the course of his investigation, Detective Jones identified 30-year-old Tyrell Reid as a suspect.

On December 20, Detective Jones presented the case to the New Castle County Grand Jury, which returned an indictment on the following charges:

  • Murder 1st Degree
  • Assault 1st Degree (2 counts)
  • Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony (3 counts)
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited

Reid was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and given $1,300,000 cash-only bail.  Reid was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.
