Wilmington Police Arrest Suspect with Loaded Handgun and Cocaine

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police announced the arrest of 20-year-old Dashawn Romeo on gun and drug charges.

Authorities stated that on March 4 at approximately 3:45 p.m., members of Wilmington’s Street Crimes Unit were in the 300 block of Townsend Street when they made contact with 20-year-old Dashawn Romeo, who discarded a loaded .22-caliber handgun as officers approached. Romeo was taken into custody without incident and found to be in possession of 11.9 grams of Cocaine.

Romeo has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person prohibited (Three Counts)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 2 Quantity

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $96,000 cash-only bail.
