Wilmington Police Arrest Driver on DUI Charges After Collision with Police Vehicle

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police announced the arrest of 39-year-old Logan Gruber on DUI charges following a collision involving a police vehicle.

The criminal complaint alleges that on May 22, at approximately 8:29 p.m., a marked police vehicle was traveling westbound through the intersection of W. 12th and N. Washington Streets when it was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound that disregarded a red traffic signal at a high rate of speed. Two police officers sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital, where they were treated and released.

The driver and sole occupant of the striking vehicle, 39-year-old Logan Gruber, remained at the scene and sustained minor injuries. He was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released.

Following an investigation by the Wilmington Police Traffic Unit, Gruber was charged with the following offenses:

  • Vehicular Assault (First Degree) – Two Counts
  • Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence
  • Failure to Stop at a Red Light

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $5,000 secured bail.
