Wilmington Police: 16-Year-Old Arrested With Loaded Handgun

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police announced they have arrested a wanted juvenile and recovered a loaded handgun.

Authorities stated that on February 10 at approximately 3:43 p.m., members of Wilmington’s Street Crimes Unit were in the 900 block of Lombard Street when they observed a wanted subject, a 16-year-old male, in the area. The suspect fled but was taken into custody without incident after a brief foot pursuit. He was found to be in possession of a loaded .380-caliber handgun.

The 16-year-old male has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Three Counts
  • Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Possession of Marijuana

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $61,100 cash-only bail.
