Wilmington Man Arrested for Carrying Concealed Firearm, Possession of Marijuana

WILMINGTON, DEWilmington Police have arrested a man on gun and drug charges.

On October 1 at approximately 9:17 p.m. members of the Street Crimes Unit were in the 1000 block of Elm Street when they observed 23-year-old Tyree Grasty acting in a suspicious manner.  Police made contact with Grasty and following a brief investigation, recovered a loaded 9mm handgun and 3 grams of marijuana.  Police took Grasty into custody without incident.

Grasty was charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (2 counts)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Possession of Marijuana

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $24,000 cash-only bail.
