Weapon Drawn! Police Investigating Armed Robbery of Delivery Truck Driver

WILMINGTON, DE — The Delaware State Police announced they are investigating the armed robbery of a delivery truck driver that occurred Monday evening in Wilmington.

Authorities stated that on March 20, 2023, at approximately 6:54 p.m., a 40-year-old truck driver parked his delivery truck behind the Wawa located at 4555 New Linden Hill Road and began unloading merchandise into the store. While the victim was in the store, one unknown male suspect entered the back of the truck and began stealing numerous cases of cigarettes while a second unknown male loaded the stolen items into a dark gray Kia Soul. When the driver walked back outside, the second suspect pointed a handgun at the driver and told him to back away. The driver complied, and the suspects fled the area.

The truck driver was not harmed. Neither suspect has been identified, and surveillance video and images are not yet available.

The Troop 2 Robbery Unit is investigating this incident. Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this case to contact Detective B. Harris by calling 302-365-8410.
