Wanted Fugitive Arrested in Wilmington, Charged with Illegal Gun Possession

WILMINGTON, DEWilmington Police have arrested a wanted man on gun charges.

On November 19 at approximately 6:06 a.m. members of the Street Crimes Unit executed a search warrant in the 800 block of North Adams Street.  Police made contact with 45-year-old Demetrius Demby, who was wanted on several outstanding warrants, and took him into custody without incident.  Police recovered a loaded .380 caliber handgun with an obliterated serial number, and additional ammunition.

Demby was charged with the following offenses in addition to his outstanding warrants:

  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (2 counts)
  • Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $145,000 cash-only bail.
