MEDIA, PA — Vincent A. Rongione, Esq., a seasoned attorney with more than 15 years of government and public service experience, was sworn into office as the Delaware County Register of Wills and Clerk of the Orphan’s Court on January 26, 2024.
The ceremony took place in the County Council Public Meeting Room. The Honorable Timika Lane, Elected Judge of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, administered the Oath of Office. Upper Darby Mayor Ed Brown led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance, while former Upper Darby Mayor Barbarann Keffer read an excerpt from President Roosevelt’s 1910 speech, “Citizenship in a Republic,” also known as “The Man in the Arena.”
Rongione, a Delaware County native, expressed his gratitude and excitement about serving the residents of the county. “I am honored to serve the residents of Delaware County and thankful to County Council for the vote of confidence,” said Rongione. He emphasized that he is especially touched by the attendance of his new staff, acknowledging the emotional nature of the office’s work.
Before his appointment, Rongione served as the Chief Administrative Officer in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania’s 6th largest municipality. His extensive resume includes roles in local, state, and federal government administration and law, as well as leadership positions in various public and non-profit organizations. He has worked on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. as a Director of Communications and Special Projects and in the State Capitol in Harrisburg as the Southeast Delegation Director in the House of Representatives.
Rongione graduated from Haverford Senior High School before earning his bachelor’s degree from Villanova University and his law degree from the Villanova School of Law. He also holds a certification in Basic Mediation from the CORA Good Shepherd Mediation in Philadelphia and is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School in Lander, Wyoming.
Rongione’s passion for public service extends beyond his professional life. He actively volunteers with organizations like Friends of Upper Darby Trails, The Upper Darby Tree Tenders, The Schuylkill River Greenways NHA, and the Darby Creek Valley Association. Additionally, he plans to expand the local Wills for Heroes program, which provides free estate planning to first responders and military Veterans.
Outside of work, Rongione enjoys hiking, spending time at the beach, and cheering on the Villanova basketball team. He resides in Upper Darby with his wife, Skye Nickalls, and their two young children. As he steps into his new role, Rongione’s commitment to public service and community upliftment continues to be a guiding force in his career.
