Viaduct Rehabilitation Scheduled at Night on Roosevelt Expressway in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that viaduct construction will continue on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) under a project to rehabilitate the Wayne Junction Viaduct over the SEPTA tracks and the Nicetown neighborhood in Philadelphia.

The work schedules and locations are:

  • Friday, January 13, from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM, a right lane closure will be in place on northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between Fox Street and 17th Street;
  • Monday, January 16, through Friday, January 20, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, periodic right lane closures will be in place on northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between Fox Street and 17th Street; and
  • Monday, January 16, through Friday, January 20, from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, periodic right lane closures will be in place on southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between Fox Street and 17th Street.

Motorists are being advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
