BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Motorists in Bucks County should brace for potential backups and delays as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced essential maintenance work that will lead to road closures on Thatcher Road and Almshouse Road. This infrastructure improvement initiative, focusing on pipe replacement, is set to impact travel in Richland and Haycock townships, as well as Doylestown Township.
The scheduled closures will commence on Thursday, April 11, and Friday, April 12, affecting Thatcher Road from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The specific segment to be closed stretches between Route 313 (Doylestown Pike) and Union Road/Richlandtown Road. To navigate around the closure, drivers are encouraged to take an alternate route via Union Road, Route 212 (Main Street/Richlandtown Pike/Tohickon Avenue/North Hellertown Avenue), and back onto Route 313 (Doylestown Pike).
The following week, on Monday, April 15, and Tuesday, April 16, Almshouse Road will undergo similar maintenance work, leading to closures from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM between Upper State Road and Lower State Road in Doylestown Township. Motorists will be redirected to use Upper State Road, Bristol Road, and Lower State Road as a detour during these times.
While local access will be maintained for residents and businesses within the affected areas, those traveling through or near the work zones are being advised to plan for additional travel time due to expected traffic congestion. PennDOT has emphasized that all scheduled maintenance activities are contingent upon favorable weather conditions, suggesting that unforeseen changes in the forecast could alter the timing of the roadwork.
