WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have arrested two women on gun charges.
Authorities state that on June 18 at approximately 1:16 p.m., a police officer on patrol conducted a vehicle stop in the 400 block of South Broom Street. Police took 18-year-old Ana Vazquez and 21-year-old Jaylynn Hernandez into custody without incident, and recovered a loaded firearm with an obliterated serial number and ammunition.
Vazquez has been charged with the following offenses, in addition to a traffic violation:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Providing a False Statement
She was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $25,525 cash-only bail.
Hernandez has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
She was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was released after posting $10,000 cash-only bail.
