Traffic Violation Leads to Major Arrest in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DE – The Wilmington Police announced the arrest of 35-year-old Justin Dye of Claymont on gun and drug charges.

Authorities stated that on February 23, at approximately 1:17 p.m., members of the Wilmington Uniformed Services Division conducted a vehicle stop in the 100 block of West 7th Street, after observing a traffic violation. Officers made contact with the driver – 35-year-old Justin Dye, of Claymont. Following a brief investigation, police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, 132 grams of marijuana, and 26 MDMA pills. Dye was taken into custody without incident.

Dye was charged with the following offenses including traffic violations:

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 1 Quantity

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $32,100 cash-only bail.
