DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Motorists traveling southbound U.S. 202 (Wilmington Pike) in Chadds Ford and Concord townships, Delaware County, are poised to face traffic disruptions next week. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced plans for stormwater improvements as part of a comprehensive $14.9 million initiative aimed at enhancing stormwater management facilities along more than 90 state highways within the Philadelphia area.
From Monday, May 6, through Friday, May 10, daily from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, drivers should anticipate alternating lane closures along southbound U.S. 202 between U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) and Hillman Drive. PennDOT advises commuters to factor additional time into their travel schedules, cautioning that backups and delays will be a consequence of the ongoing work. The execution of these plans is contingent upon favorable weather conditions.
Highway Materials, Inc., headquartered in Flourtown, Montgomery County, has been designated as the general contractor for this endeavor, with funding sourced entirely from state coffers.
As the area braces for the scheduled improvements, the forthcoming week promises to test the patience of daily commuters and travelers navigating the affected stretch of U.S. 202.
