WEST READING, PA —  EMS providers are truly at the front lines of healthcare. They are the first to arrive in emergency situations, providing critical care and lifesaving interventions to those in need. In recognition of National EMS Week, May 21-27, 2023, Tower Health will recognize and honor all EMS Professionals. This is the 49th annual National EMS Week and the theme is “Where Emergency Care Begins.”

EMS are highly skilled professionals including Pre-Hospital RNs, Paramedics, Advanced EMTs, EMTs, and Wheelchair Van Drivers who assist in treating patients before and after their time in the hospital.

“EMS professionals are so important to the care continuum,” said Suzanne Wenderoth, MD, Tower Health Chief Medical Officer. “While enroute to the hospital these highly-skilled professionals are providing life-saving care while staying in constant communication with our emergency teams preparing to continue the care started in the field. Last year we had 45,216 patients arrive to our four emergency departments via ambulance. I thank the EMS providers in our community for their excellence and dedication.”

For those considering a career in EMS, the Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences educates future EMS professionals through its Emergency Medical Services program where students can attend to become certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), Advanced EMTs (AEMT), or Paramedics.

Tower Health is thanking all EMS professionals for their unwavering commitment to the communities they serve. Their bravery, skill, and compassion save countless lives every day.
