WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have charged three men following the recovery of drugs and two firearms.
Authorities state that on September 2, members of the Street Crimes Unit were conducting a drug investigation in the area of Sherman and Lombard Streets when they made contact with three subjects. A subsequent investigation led to the recovery of a loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine, a 9mm handgun and marijuana, a scale and packaging material. One of the handguns had been reported stolen out of Fayetteville, North Carolina.
The three subjects were taken into custody without incident.
Jamil Johns, 25, has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – 4 Counts
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
Johns was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $40,000 cash-only bail.
Additionally, Akeem Stewart, 37, and Charles Coleman, 37, were issued summonses for Possession of Marijuana and with an Open Container violation.
