Teens Arrested in Wilmington, Guns Confiscated

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police announced the arrest of three juveniles on gun charges.

Authorities stated that on January 12 at approximately 3:09 p.m., members of Wilmington’s Street Crimes Unit were in the area of 30th and North Madison Streets when they made contact with three juveniles, a 15-year-old male, a 16-year-old male, and a 17-year-old male.  Following a brief investigation, police recovered a .22 caliber handgun, a .25 caliber handgun, and a 9mm handgun that was reported stolen.  The 17-year-old, who was found to have an outstanding capias for his arrest, initially struggled with arresting officers but was quickly taken into custody without incident.

The 15-year-old juvenile was charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited  (2 counts)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $30,000 cash-only bail.

The 16-year-old juvenile was charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited  (2 counts)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $30,000 cash-only bail.

The 17-year-old juvenile was charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited  (2 counts)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Resisting Arrest

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $31,000 cash-only bail.

Information, a criminal complaint, or an arrest is not a declaration of guilt. A suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
