Registration Open for Free Virtual Summit for Delaware Teens and Young Adults

NEWARK, DE — Teenager Luka Kinard will headline the 2022 KBG Virtual Summit. Kinard will share his cautionary tale on vaping and how his addiction ended in a seizure, landed him in the hospital, where he completed nearly 40 days in a rehab program for e-cigarette addiction. Kinard’s story has been featured on Today, NBC News, the Wall Street Journal, and Inside Edition. Registration is open to Delaware teens who are passionate about tobacco prevention. The free, on-demand virtual event runs from April 25 – May 27.

“We are excited to join together virtually to learn from Luka’s journey,” said Julian Santiago, KBG statewide chair from Hodgson Vo-Tech High School. “It’s important to hear the harmful effects of vaping so we can arm ourselves with information to help make good decisions.”

The Summit is free, but registration is required. Middle schoolers and high schoolers should register at https://kbgde.org/virtual-youth-summit-2022-reg/. Registration closes Monday, April 25.

“With e-cigarette use on the rise, events such as the KBG Summit are essential,” said Matt Coyle, specialist, health promotions, American Lung Association of Delaware. “Educating students on the dangers of nicotine and tobacco products are key to tackling this epidemic.”
