Teen Arrested with Loaded Handgun and 5 Bags of Marijuana

WILMINGTON, DEWilmington Police have arrested a juvenile on gun and drug charges.

Authorities state that on January 7 at approximately 2:40 p.m., members of Wilmington’s Street Crimes Unit were in the area of South Heald and Christiana Avenue when they observed a 16-year-old male acting suspiciously.  When police attempted to make contact with him, he fled on foot.  He was quickly taken into custody without incident and police recovered a loaded .380 caliber handgun and 5 bags of marijuana.

The 16-year-old was charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm while also in Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Possession of Marijuana

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $31,100 cash-only bail.
