Stolen Vehicle Recovered in Wilmington, Two Men Arrested on Gun Charges

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have arrested two men on gun charges and recovered a stolen vehicle.

Authorities state that on September 21 at approximately 1:40 p.m., police on patrol in the 2600 block of Bowers Street observed an occupied stolen vehicle.  When police attempted to conduct a vehicle stop, the occupants, 18-year-old Clyde Penny and 18-year-old Javon Turner, fled on foot.  A short time later police took both subjects into custody without incident and recovered a loaded 9mm handgun.

Penny was charged with the following offenses including traffic violations:

  • Possession of an Untraceable Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle
  • Resisting Arrest

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $31,400 cash-only bail.

Turner was charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of an Untraceable Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Resisting Arrest

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $27,000 cash-only bail.
