Shots Fired, Teen Arrested for Illegal Possession of a Firearm

WILMINGTON, DEWilmington Police have arrested a 19-year-old male on gun charges.

Authorities state that on December 29 at approximately 2:57 p.m. police responded to the area of 8th and Monroe Streets in reference to a shots fired complaint.  Responding officers observed 19-year-old Jerome Perkins fleeing from the area.  After a brief foot pursuit, police were able to take him into custody without incident and a loaded .40 caliber handgun was recovered.

Perkins was charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (2 counts)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Resisting Arrest

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $31,000 cash-only bail.
