Robbery at Pasteles Rojas Bakery: Gunman Threatens Employees and Escapes with Cash and Personal Belongings

WILMINGTON, DE — The Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place early Tuesday morning at Pasteles Rojas Bakery in Wilmington.

According to Detectives, on September 26, 2023, at approximately 3:07 a.m., an unknown suspect approached an employee taking the trash out at Pasteles Rojas Bakery located at 2110 Kirkwood Highway. The suspect pointed a handgun at the employee and pushed him inside the bakery. Once inside, the suspect forced the additional three employees in the bakery to kneel while continuing to point the gun at their coworker. The suspect threatened to kill the employees while demanding cash from the registers as well as cash and personal property from the employees. The victims complied and the suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and personal property from the employees.

The victims were not harmed. The suspect is described as a male wearing dark-colored clothing. Surveillance video and images are not yet available.

The Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating this incident. Detectives are asking for anyone with information regarding this case to contact Detective R. Strecker by calling 302-365-8413. Information may also be provided by contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
