Return to Sender: Berks County Working to Resolve Postage for Mail-in Ballots

READING, PA — Berks County officials have stated that they are aware the mail-in ballots for the 2021 General Election are requiring more postage than a single standard stamp. The County reports it has been working with the local postmasters to send a message to all Berks County Postal facilities directing them to send through any mail-in ballots as they receive them and not return any to their senders.

However, officials also stated that the County cannot guarantee that all post offices will forward the ballots as requested. To guarantee their ballots are received, voters are being encouraged to include an additional stamp on their mail-in ballot or drop it off at one of the two County designated drop boxes, starting Monday, Oct. 18.

The drop boxes are located at the Berks County Services Center, 633 Court Street, Reading and the Berks County Agricultural Center, 1238 County Welfare Road, Leesport. They will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with additional hours on Saturday, October 30 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and extended hours until 8 p.m. on November 1 and Election Day, November 2.
