SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will proceed with resurfacing and bridge repair work on Interstate 476 next week. This is part of a $63.7 million effort to enhance nearly 17 miles of the interstate and its infrastructure.
From Sunday, August 25, through Thursday, August 29, alternating lane closures will occur on southbound I-476 between the U.S. 30 and Route 3 interchanges for milling and paving. Northbound lanes between I-76 and Route 3 will also experience closures for utility work during the same period.
Additionally, East Rose Valley Road in Nether Providence will see lane closures for bridge repairs from Monday, August 26, to Thursday, August 29, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and plan for extended travel times. All work is subject to weather conditions.
This project involves milling and overlaying travel lanes, repairing 49 structures, and improving stormwater management basins. The initiative aims to enhance road safety and extend the lifespan of the interstate. H&K Group, Inc. of Skippack, PA, is overseeing the construction, which is fully funded by federal resources and expected to conclude in late 2025.
