Reading Man Arrested in Lancaster County with 5lbs of Marijuana

NEW HOLLAND, PA — New Holland Police have arrested a man and recovered approximately 5lbs of marijuana and related paraphernalia.

Authorities report that on December 27, 2021, at approximately 1:05 am. New Holland Police Officers were dispatched for a vehicle crash in the 2000 Block of Division Highway, Earl Township, Lancaster County. Officers arrived and observed a crash involving one vehicle that had sheared off a utility pole. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Abdul Evans, a 54-year-old man from  Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.

Police say that Evans displayed numerous signs of intoxication. Officers then discovered that his driver’s license was suspended for a previous DUI. During the course of their investigation, it was discovered that Evans had been in the possession of approximately 5lbs of marijuana and related paraphernalia. Additionally, Evans is said to have refused to submit to a test to check the level of his Blood Alcohol Content.

Evans has been charged with the following offenses:

  • (1 count) Possession With Intent To Deliver
  • (1 count) DUI
  • (1 count) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • (2) Summary Traffic Offenses

Evans was charged with the above offenses and transported to Lancaster County Central Booking to await arraignment. He was released after posting $75,000 cash bail.
