Police Arrest Man for Illegally Possessing a Firearm

WILMINGTON, DEWilmington Police have arrested a man on gun charges.

Authorities state that on September 1 at approximately 4:09 p.m. members of the Street Crimes Unit were in the 1300 block of East 29th Street when they observed 25-year-old Cedric Fletcher acting in a suspicious manner.  When police attempted to make contact with Fletcher, he fled on foot.  Police quickly took Fletcher into custody and recovered a loaded 9mm handgun.

Fletcher was charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (2 counts)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Resisting Arrest

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $65,000 cash-only bail.
