Philadelphia Water Department Improvement Begins Next Week on George C. Platt Bridge

Travel Restrictions

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that the Philadelphia Water Department will be performing water main construction and roadway repairs on Route 291 (George C. Platt Bridge) in Philadelphia beginning Friday, February 3.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

  • From 9:00 PM Friday, February 3, to 5:00 AM Monday, February 6, a lane closure is scheduled on eastbound Route 291 (George C. Platt Bridge) between Island Avenue and 26th Street.
  • Monday, February 6, through Tuesday, February 7, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on eastbound Route 291 (George C. Platt Bridge) between Island Avenue and 26th Street.

Local access will be maintained up to the work zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur.

Philadelphia Water Department will complete this project under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.
