Philadelphia Police Seek Assistance in Identifying Armed Robbery Suspects

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying suspects connected to the Grocery store armed robbery that occurred on Wednesday.

Investigators say that on May 17, 2023, at 2:25 am, two unknown black males entered a Grocery store located on the 8200 block of W Venango Street when suspect #1 began hitting the security door with an axe while suspect #2 had a black firearm pointed at an employee. When the suspects broke through the security door suspect #2 continued to point the firearm at the employee demanding money. Suspect #1 then went into the register and placed the money inside a bag. Both suspects then fled the store with two cartons of cigarettes and $750 and were last seen on foot south on 9th street. No injuries were reported.

Do NOT approach the suspects, but instead, immediately contact 911. If you have any information regarding the suspects or the crime, contact the East Detective Division by calling 215-686-3243.
