Philadelphia Police Searching for Person of Interest in Multiple Shootings and Robberies

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Philadelphia Police announced they are currently searching for Brian Amerman, a 19-year-old, who is considered a person of interest in multiple shooting and robbery incidents. He is also wanted for violating probation, which dates back to his arrest in 2022.

24th District-Shooting Incident.

On May 21st, 2023 Sunday at 12:51 PM, the Philadelphia Police received a report of an armed person in the 28oo block of Amber Street. Upon arriving at the scene, they found a 22-year-old black male with two gunshot wounds on his left leg. The victim was in critical condition and had to be rushed to Temple University Hospital. Although law enforcement officers searched the area, neither the suspect nor the gun was found, and their investigations are still ongoing through the Shooting Investigation Group.

15th District-Shooting Incident.

On May 17, 2023, at 9:02 PM, Philadelphia Police were summoned to the 6500 block of Roosevelt Boulevard in response to an urgent call about a person with a gun. At the scene, they found a 53-year-old Hispanic male injured from gunshot wounds to his chest and leg, and lying near a stand-alone ATM in the parking lot of the plaza. He was quickly taken to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital and placed in critical condition.  Despite the police’s scene containment, the shooter managed to evade arrest and the weapon used remained unrecovered. The active and ongoing investigation is being handled by the Shooting Investigation Group.

24th District-Shooting Incident.

On May 14th, 2023, Sunday, at 4:54 P.M., authorities responded to a report of gunshots on Amber Street, Philadelphia. A 17-year-old Hispanic male was found with three gunshot wounds to the leg, and taken in a private vehicle to Temple University Hospital, where he was later stabilized. Although the scene was held and thoroughly searched, no weapon or arrest was made. At the moment, the Shooting Investigation Group is actively pursuing and continuing the investigation.

15th District-Robbery Incident.

In the early hours of May 12, 2023, a 21-year-old white male was robbed at gunpoint while attempting to make a deposit at an ATM on the 6500 block of Roosevelt Boulevard. The victim sustained injuries to the left side of his head during the ordeal. The suspects fled with the victim’s USC and Nissan Murano, though the latter was later recovered on May 22, 2023. Unfortunately, no scene was found nor weapon recovered, and no arrests have been made as yet. The Northeast Detective Division is actively investigating the incident.

15th District-Robbery Incident.

At 12:05 AM on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, Philadelphia Police responded to a robbery on the 65XX block of Roosevelt Boulevard. The suspect, armed with a gun, approached a 43-year-old white male and demanded USC. Despite being struck over the head with the weapon, the victim refused to comply, and the suspect fled the scene with both USC and the victim’s vehicle. Police found the vehicle abandoned on the 1900 block of East Sedgley Street at 11:17 AM. The investigation, currently in the hands of Northeast Detective Division, is active and ongoing, although no arrest has been made and the weapon has not been recovered.

Information, a criminal complaint, or an arrest is not a declaration of guilt. A suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
