PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on August 12, 2023, at approximately 1:50 p.m. in the 5100 block of Belfield Avenue. The incident involved two vehicles and resulted in one death.
According to the police report, a suspect identified as a black male in his teens with braided hair and dressed in all-black clothing fired several shots at the occupant of the other vehicle. The victim sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and subsequently died from his injuries.
The City of Philadelphia has since announced a reward of $20,000 for any information leading to an arrest and conviction in this homicide case. The police department urges anyone with information about this crime or the suspect to contact the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334 or 215-686-3335. Detective Ortiz #703 is the lead investigator on the case.
Members of the public are advised not to approach the suspect but to contact 911 immediately if they see him. Tips can be submitted via telephone by dialing 215.686.TIPS (8477) or texting a tip to the same number. All tips will be kept confidential.
