Pennsylvania Woman Arrested in Wilmington on Drug Charges


WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have announced the arrest of 25-year-old Shamyah Cottman from Chester, Pennsylvania on drug charges.

Authorities stated that on December 7 at approximately 2:16 p.m., members of Wilmington’s Street Crimes Unit conducted a vehicle stop in the 2100 block of Lancaster Avenue.  Police made contact with the driver, identified as Shamyah Cottman.  Following a brief investigation, police recovered 5.3 grams of cocaine.  Cottman was taken into custody without incident.

Cottman was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 1 Quantity in addition to traffic violations.

She was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $4,000 unsecured bail.

Information, a criminal complaint, or an arrest is not a declaration of guilt. A suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
