PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), a statewide accounting association with nearly 20,000 members, has appointed Matthew Melinson, CPA, as President and David Stonesifer, CPA, as President-elect. The appointments were made during PICPA’s 127th annual meeting on May 14th.
“Matt and Dave are exceptional leaders and advocates for CPAs and the accounting profession across our state,” said Jen Cryder, CEO of PICPA. “Their combined expertise and innovative mindsets will steer the organization toward new heights, addressing the evolving needs of the accounting profession.”
As president, Melinson will collaborate with the PICPA executive team to advance policies and standards for the accounting profession. His focus areas include talent attraction and retention, and technology implementation. He will also engage in initiatives surrounding CPA licensure, tax legislation, and other issues impacting CPAs in Pennsylvania.
Melinson, a tax partner at Grant Thornton in Philadelphia, brings extensive experience to his new role. Before becoming PICPA president, he served on the organization’s Board of Directors and was president of its Greater Philadelphia Chapter.
“The accounting profession faces complex challenges and uncertainties,” Melinson said. “I look forward to advocating for advancements that improve all facets of our profession. Working closely with Jen Cryder and the PICPA team, I am excited to serve our members at such a critical time.”
David Stonesifer, the newly named president-elect, is the CEO of Herbein + Company in Reading, PA. Known for his community service and active involvement in professional organizations, Stonesifer has served on the PA State Board of Accountancy and the board of Greater Reading Young Professionals. He has also been president of the Reading Chapter of PICPA.
Stonesifer’s extensive experience and commitment to the profession make him a valuable addition to PICPA’s leadership team.
With this new leadership, PICPA aims to address the evolving needs of its members and the accounting profession, ensuring that it remains at the forefront of industry standards and practices.
