PennDOT Announces Resurfacing Operations on U.S. 13/Route 291 and Flower Street/Edwards Street in City of Chester

Lane closures

CHESTER, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced resurfacing operations scheduled for next week on U.S. 13/Route 291 (2nd Street) and Flower Street/Edwards Street in the City of Chester. These operations are part of a larger project to repair and pave 28 state highways in Delaware County.

From Monday, November 27, through Wednesday, November 29, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, travel restrictions will be in effect. Specifically, there will be a lane closure on U.S. 13/Route 291 (2nd Street) between Penn Street and the Route 291 Bridge over Chester Creek for paving. Additionally, a lane closure is scheduled on Flower Street/Edwards Street between 7th Street and the end of Edwards Road for paving.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through these work areas due to expected slowdowns. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under this pavement improvement project, PennDOT plans to mill and resurface 45 miles of state highways in Delaware County using bituminous material. This will effectively seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface, enhancing both safety and comfort for road users.

Allan Myers of Worcester, Montgomery County, PA, is the general contractor for this $16,945,945 resurfacing project, which is financed entirely with state funds. PennDOT appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as they work to improve the region’s infrastructure.
