New Castle Teen Arrested in Wilmington with Loaded Gun and Drugs

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police announced the arrest of 18-year-old Tyion George of New Castle on gun and drug charges.

Authorities stated that on March 17, at approximately 5:23 p.m., members of Wilmington’s Street Crimes Unit were in the 900 block of Vandever Avenue, when they observed 18-year-old Tyion George of New Castle acting in a suspicious manner. When police attempted to make contact with George, he fled on foot. Officers observed George discard a firearm, then took him into custody without incident. Police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, .5 grams of crack cocaine, and 7.1 grams of marijuana.

George was charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Three Counts
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $18,000 cash-only bail.
