New Castle Man Arrested on Gun, Drug Charges

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have arrested a New Castle man on gun and drug charges.

According to authorities, on July 21 at approximately 12:16 a.m. police on proactive patrol made contact with 40-year-old Frank Johnson in the 800 block of North West Street, Wilmington.  Following a brief investigation, police recovered a loaded .45 caliber handgun which was reported stolen, 28.74 grams of marijuana, and 7.94 grams of cocaine.  Johnson was taken into custody without incident.

Johnson was charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm while also in Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Receiving a Stolen Firearm
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 1 Quantity
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Possession of Marijuana

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $25,252 secured bail.
